Pottery Wall Fountain - Doves and Roses
In storage for the last 60 years, sculpted pottery wall fountain features two Doves facing each other with Roses at the top and leaves filling the center leading to a curved basin of larger leaves. Two tone glaze has an amber underglaze with green top glaze that gives this the appearance of weathered copper. Opening in the top center Rose is for hanging or mounting the fountain and there is a hole near the basin for the water to flow out and into the basin. Unsure as to maker, but this came from an early Calif. estate located in the heart of Hollywood that hosted numerous celebrities and notables during the 1920's -to the 1940's. Everything these people owned was first class if not world class as evidenced by their 1906 Steinway grand piano. Should you purchase this, I will be happy to give greater detail as to provenance. The fountain is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks to the glazed front and sides. Pottery chip to the unglazed backside with no loss of integrity. There is a number to the back looking like 45. All details are crisp and clear and the Doves protrude forward a good 3" in depth. 17" long x 9" wide this is an amazing, and I really try to seldom use the word amazing, and beautiful piece of pottery. All items from this home were placed into storage in the late 1940's. Price is firm.
