Halloween is always right around the corner for collectors! This Jack O’ Lantern can help set your mood. Spooky mood when lit at night! I recommend a battery operated candle. This is a vintage Paper Mache pumpkin Jack O’ Lantern! This is made of composition “egg crate” molded paper pulp with orange paint, green around base. This Jack O’ Lantern has a wonderful smile. These JOLs are becoming harder to find they were not meant to last with children playing with them or just in storage. In the 1950s they were used and thrown away after Halloween. There is some paint loss and small rubs consistent with its age they are made of very fragile materials. The original wire handle is present and the insert is original, it does have a small hole that you can see in the photos. Original inserts are seldom found. This type lantern is American made circa 1950s.It is a good large size approximately 7” by 71/2”. I would say that it is very nice and ready to haunt your neighbors! Halloween collectables are a good investment and getting pricier! This would make a great gift for a Halloween collector. What a wonderful idea! ……………….Boo!
