Early Bliss Brothers 1/20 10K gold filled rhinestone Heart Locket Necklace

Beautiful Locket necklace is heart shaped with a etched flower in the center and a border of rhinestones. It still has a picture of what appears to be a service man on the left and there is another photo not shown but will be included of what appears to be the family a mother and daughter. That has been removed to view the maker mark which is the 1 20 10K with the classic Bliss brothers company hallmark B that has a smaller B engraved on top of the B and CO engraved on the bottom of the B. The close on locket is very snug and secure. The back is finely etched and has some small what appears to be teeth bite marks. The bale is pair shaped with nice subtle etching design.Comes complete with a lovely fine gold filled link chain that is marked on the circle clasp 1/20/14K PP and can't make out the other letter or number. The stones while they do have life, have typical age wear for these lockets. Inside of the locket is a little wear. Outside with the teeth bites noted is in other wise very good vintage condition.

Measures on Locket from bale down 1 3/8'L and 7/8'W. Gold filled chain is approx. 17 1/2'L.

This mark was used by Bliss Brothers Co. of Attleboro, Massachusetts. The company opened in 1873 as Bliss Brothers & Everett. It was founded by Charles Edwin Bliss, Everett Bradford Bliss, and R.L.F. Everett. According to an 1883 history of the county, Bliss Brothers & Everett "made a general variety of ladies' and gents' gold-plated goods." The company became Bliss Brothers Co. sometime after 1887. Compacts, pill boxes, and other small items, including gold-filled and sterling jewelry, were made.
