HUGE Victorian "tortoise shell" plique inlay pocket book purse
I can honestly say that I have NEVER seen a Victorian purse in this size before. I've had plenty of the change sized ones but this one is truly spectacular. I'm pretty sure that it's tortoise shell as I have never seen this kind of plique inlay in any other material. If it's faux it's pretty darn good. I am at a bit of a loss to explain the surface "alligator" finish, any information would be gratefully received and the listing amended accordingly. The pocket book or purse measures 8 1/4" long by 5" tall without the frayed rope twist handles. The interior silk is worn and or tatty as shown. Actually looking at my photo the lining looks fine but i didn't catch a view of the inner front where it IS tatty! I will try and add another photograph later. There is a split in the side leather as shown but no other damage that I could see. All the silver and mother of pearl inlay looks to be present. Dating from around the 1870's.
Due to the material it is made from I can ONLY ship this item within the United states.
Gender: Female, Age Group: Adult, Color: brown, Size: 8 1/4" by 5"
