Red Block was first made by Bryce Brother (#175) , then by U.S. Glass in 1898 and by Central Glass (#881 & 893). This sugar bowl is in very good to excellent condition for age and use. Most of the red flashing still is present on all parts of the bowl with only minor wear. The lid has some wear on the knob and a few minor flea bites and one chip under the lid (shown in photo). Price reflects the defects but does not distract from this as something you would use or display. It is listed on page 232 of the Pressed Glass book 5th edition 1860-1930 by Edwards and Carwile.
