Original vintage Planters Pennant salted peanut tin produced by the Planters Nut and Chocolate Company which was started in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, in 1906. The famous American peanut company, an icon in American retail history was born on a park bench, when peanut seller Amedeo Obici and Mario Peruzzi formed their company. The men opened their first plant in Suffolk, Virginia in 1913. National advertising for Planters Peanuts started in 1918. This tin originally held ten (10) lbs. of Planters peanuts that would have been displayed and used in the general stores of the time. This collectible advertising tin in excellent condition the original lid with bold color graphics. There is some minor color loss, dings and scratches. There is no rust to the outside or inside of the tin. The canister measures 9 ¾" high and 8 ½" in diameter. cl003276
