Royal introduced Currier & Ives Dinnerware in 1950. It was an immediate success. The copyright on the Currier & Ives prints had passed into the public domain and they remained as popular as ever. At the same time, Early American décor was enjoying a revival and the Currier & Ives dinnerware fit right in. The designs are a combination of C&I prints or parts of prints along with the famous scrolled border designed by Gordon Parker, Art Director at Royal. The basic dinnerware was offered as a premium at A&P groceries with additional pieces for sale or redeemed for coupons or stamps. Later it was also sold at department stores. It was produced until 1970 when Jeannette discontinued it as too old-fashioned. It was brought back in the mid-seventies and production continued until Royal closed in 1986. C&I dinnerware came in four colors, blue, pink, green, and brown.
