Antique Victorian Gutta-percha Mourning Cameo Brooch C.1875

This totally amazing antique Victorian Gutta-percha cameo mourning brooch pin is unique and so perfect for your modern day wardrobe. Gutta-percha was a plastic extracted from trees in Southeast Asia and sparked a craze in Victorian England. It shows a cameo face of a beautiful young girl, sitting a little off center on a large oval floral base. Her facial features are finely chiseled and her hair is flowing onto her shoulders. I love the color and placement of the cameo--it's almost a black/brown color depending on the way the light hits it, and the size of the piece is quite substantial. It measures 2 1/4 inches long x 2 inches wide and is in extremely good antique condition. We have a fine assortment of antique and vintage jewelry to check out, so please browse through the shop.

This piece is part of our personal collection that has been stashed away for more than 30 years, and we are now ready to share with the world.

We offer lay-a-way, so shop away.

Thanks for visiting Nancy's Fancy, and stay tuned for more fabulous finds every day.
