This is one beautiful and sentimental porcelain brooch. I really thought it was from the late 1800's since it looks authentically like a Victorian piece, but it's vintage, and was painted and signed in 1969. The brooch has been hand-painted with sweet purple violets and green leaves and looks very much like a painting that could be framed and hung. It says "With Love and a Happy Birthday Mrs. Neagle from Margie 1969" and would make such a wonderful gift to pass along to someone specal as a token of your love. It measures 3" x 2", is backed on solid brass, and is in excellent condition.
There was a fashion trend around the turn of the century and earlier, and young girls would start with a plain white blank and hand paint initials, flowers, designs and silhouettes for their friends and sisters. This piece was obviously reproduced later as a remembrance of that trend. View the rest of our incredible porcelain collection at Nancy's Fancy and pick out yours for spring.
