This wax seal has all the elements of style including a seal that hasn't been engraved. It's Victorian, for sure, from about 1870-1880. It would compliment a desk beautifully, and would also make a superb gift for someone who likes to write. Writing personalized notes is coming back in style these days as technology takes us over! It has a sterling mark right on the front, is in excellent condition and measures about 4 1/4" long.
This special piece has been part of our personal 125-piece antique writing instrument and desk accessory collection that appeared at the Smithsonian's Cooper Hewitt Museum of Design's Reading and Writing Exhibit in 1980 in New York City. It is now time to share all of these valuable and memorable pieces with antique lovers all over the world. There are many more, so please enjoy! There is a link to an article about the exhibit, so if you Google the New York Times Reading and Writing exhibit 1980, it should take you there
