This unique brass Victorian brooch from about 1875 has light amethyst and peridot stones set in small round bezels on each side of the pin with brass beading around its oval frame. The fabulous center disc has a picture of an armored soldier's head with the word "Mispah" written above it. The Victorian meaning of Mizpah is "I Will Watch Over Thee" and was shown on some of the more popular jewelry and other collectibles of that era. This piece is a perfect example of that and is in excellent antique condition. The back has a 'C' closure, which was typical of that era, and measures about 3 inches long x 2 inches top to bottom. This is one unusual piece of Victorian memorabilia to collect and wear.
I've had an enormous collection of these Victorian brass brooches over the years, because I love all of the different styles, and this is one of the few that I've kept in my own collection because it was so unusual.
This special gem has been part of our personal collection and has been stashed away in a trunk for over 30 years. It's now time to take it out and share with antique lovers and new collectors all over the world, so enjoy!
