This extraordinary Art Deco *Niello evening cigarette has all the earmarks of being owned by a Parisian in the 20's. *Niello is a technique of creating black enamel designs on silver. The process is usually done in stripes, flowers, and other geometric patterns. This black and alpacca silver checked Art Deco piece has a gold shell inside with the original elastics, which held evening cigarettes. It is marked with several French names and dates and the word 'Paris'. It looks like it says Messr. Liebling, Lisa – 14.1.27, Monopol, and on the other side of the case, names, dates of birth and maybe cities of birth of a family. It is quite a collector's item, and if you're a Francophile, what a piece to keep on your coffee table. The piece is in good antique condition with some wear from use, and spots where the silver has lightened. It measures 3 ½ inches x 2 ½ inches. Great to use as a card case now or to carry dollar bills. Enjoy the uniqueness of this piece--I have.
