This extremely beautiful hand-painted porcelain brooch from about 1880 is small in size but huge in design. Its intricate patterns of deep blues and claret with touches of light blue, green and white enhance the exquisite gold leafing that makes this piece so unique. It reminds me of stained glass or an oriental rug, with so much pattern on such a small piece. It was a fashion trend during that time for young girls to paint pins of their own designs and make them their own, and it would now make a fabulous find for jacket or sweater. The piece is in excellent antique condition and measures 1 ½ inches long x 1 inch wide with a solid brass backing with an old "C" closure.
This piece is part of our personal collection that has been stashed away for 30 years and is now making its debut for sale to the world.
Naturally eco-friendly and green, antiques are the ultimate in helping the environment.
