Offered for sale is an early 19th century hand painted miniature watercolor portrait depicting Pauline Bonaparte, sister of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. The portrait depicts her in an Empire gown, her up-swept hair decorated with a jeweled headband. Pauline was the only sibling to visit and support Napoleon during his exile in Elba.
The painting shows her as a young beauty and is in good condition with some loss of color to the enamel along the edge and age related wear to the frame. It is set into a rectangular ebony frame.
