Presented for sale is a stunning early 19th century miniature watercolor portrait hand painted of Empress Josephine Beauharnais Bonaparte. The Empress is dressed in a beautiful Empire style gown and is bejeweled with a Ruby necklace and crown. The painting is signed illegibly and is finely executed with exceptional detail.

The portrait is set into an oval ormolu laurel leaf cast frame, crested with the Napoleonic Emblematic Eagle; the back is mounted with a suspension ring. The painting is in very good condition, however the plaque is cracked on either side of the portrait and the frame shows a crack at the bottom. We are selling this wonderful piece "as is."
