This wonderful piece of Howard Pottery is an excellent example of understatement. The unique shape of the body is covered in a flat black cold paint. The flared rib that is below the spout is decorated in an alternating red and light blue spotted design. The belled base has Chinese lanterns strung around it. I suspect that this dates to the early 1950's. It stands 15.5 cm ( 6 1/8") high and is marked on the base as shown.
This type of cold painted design is almost always missing some paint. This pitcher is in unbelievable condition with no chips, cracks or fleabites. The cold paint is missing a few tiny spots on the rim as shown in the 4th picture.
