Offered for sale: Rare 12 inch by 6 inch Hamilton Tile Works green glaze tile of a woman holding a parrot with a dog reclining at her feet with matching green glaze tile frame.
This tile was made by Hamilton Tile Works of Ohio . There is a picture of a similar tile on page 86 of Karlson's American Art Tile book. This tile is highly detailed. There is a curtain in back of the woman. She is holding what looks like a parrot in one hand and has a purse on a long strap . The dog is looking up at her. Built into the tile is a green glaze frame. Use the 'Zoom' mode to get as good look at the tile.
The tile is a medium to dark green glaze in good condition except for a small chip on the outside of the tile on the left side and the top of the dog's head which has lost the glaze and looks like something rough was passed over it. The tile has a small amount of crazing.
The tile is marked 'The Hamilton Tile Works Hamilton Ohio' inside of a large circle on the back of the tile. The Hamilton Tile works closed it doors in 1901 so this is quite an old tile and qualifies as being an antique.
Note: Any change of colors in the pictures are do to the reflection of the camera's focusing light and are not actually on the tile.
