Offered for sale: From the 1980s comes this wonderful turquoise and Sterling Silver cluster style bracelet by Navajo silversmith Bobby Bencenti.
The turquoise in this bracelet is an amazing robin's egg blue with only a small amount of iron pyrite matrix. The bracelet is made up of a center oval cluster which measures 2 1/2 by 2 1/4 inches and 2 rows of turquoise on each side of the center cluster. The turquoise is all oval in shape and bezel set with serrated edges.
The center cluster has a row of bezel set turquoise around the outer edge of the cluster with silver bead between the pieces of turquoise. In the middle of the center cluster is an oval cluster with 14 pieces of bezel set turquoise; 2 in the center with 12 surround the center 2 pieces. Separating the small oval cluster from the row of turquoise around the outer edge, is a section of cutout silver decoration with a series of scallop shapes with silver accent beads. The section of silver which is not cut out is japanned. This cutout design gives the bracelet a wonderful airy look. Twisted wire decoration is used to decoration the inner and out edges of the cutout design.
The bracelet measures 5 3/8 inches around the center without the gap. The gap measures 1 3/8 inches. My wrist measures 6 1/2 inches and the bracelet is a little large on me. However the cuff is made up of 3 wires with the turquoise sections applied on top of the wires. The ends of the bracelet which measure 1/2inch can be bent in or out to change the size of the bracelet. However if the bracelet is made too large it will not stay on the arm.
The bracelet is marked 'Sterling' and 'BB' for Navajo silversmith Bobby Becenti. The bracelet weights 45 grams.
