1960s Sterling Silver Cuff Bracelet with Foliate Motif Decorated with Turquoise and Coral
This bracelet is amazing. This 3 wire cuff bracelet is 3 inches from top to bottom. The top of the bracelet fits across all 3 wires and is curved slightly to follow the shape of the arm. The top of the bracelet is done in the shadowbox style with notched edge decoration and covered by an elaborate design of leaves, vines, flower and berries intertwined together across the bracelet. Silver beading is used in the design to call attention to different areas of the design. Around the outer edge of the shadowbox is twisted wire decoration below the raised edging.
There are 2 turquoise green nuggets and a piece of red coral, each bezel set. I can not tell if the turquoise was originally green or has changed to the green color as the turquoise ages. One piece of turquoise has a surface crack but it is completely stable. The turquoise and coral are all bezel set.
On each side of the shadowbox setting is a panel of silver which goes from 2 inches at the top to 1 inch on the bottom. The panels follow the shape of the 3 wires and are next to but not attached to the oval top of the bracelet. The panels are decorated in a sun ray design.
The bracelet has a great deal of patina. I have not polished it. However running a polishing cloth across the top will caused the raised decoration to shine beautifully.
The bracelet measures 5 1/2 inches around the inside with out the opening which is 1 inch wide. My wrist is a 6 1/2. It is a little tight getting the bracelet on the wrist but once there it fits beautifully. There is a small amount of room to open up the ends in order to make the bracelet larger.
There are no marks on the bracelet but it tests as Sterling.
