From the 1920s comes this wonderful Egyptian Revival chatelaine. It weights an impressive 39.1 grams. There are no marks but the metal tests as silver. The chatelaine is 3 1/4 inches high ( including the watch swivel ) by 1 1/4 inches at its widest point.
The chatelaine has the head of a pharaoh on top with a winged scarab and snake on the bottom. The original chains have been replaced by a watch swivel. There is a long plaque which runs the length of the chatelaine. It is used to hook the chatelaine onto a waistband. The chatelaine is hinged to make access of its utensils easier to reach. The hing is directly below the pharaoh so that the winged scarab and snake clasp are are on a single hinged plaque.
The chatelaine is in superb condition. It would be an important addition to anyone's collection. The silver work is wonderful. ( Note: the long plaque down the back can be hooked over a wide chain forming a watch pin with a hook for a pendant or watch ).
