Czech Figural Stopper Blue Filigree Base Perfume Bottle
This 1920-30s era Czech perfume is unusual in that there are no jewels set in the heavy ornate filigree that completely encases the blue cut glass base. Lot 277 of the Ruth Forsythe auction had the same base so at least 2 were made. The metal is much thicker & heavier than the usual Czech filigree and appears to be bronze. There is a round section in the front and back and a side section on each end joining these firmly to the bottle.
The stopper, like Ruths', is a double intaglio with undulating asymmetric edges. A dancer with scarves is moulded into each side of the glass to give depth to the image.
At 7 1/4" it is a tall bottle and is acid stamped in the oval 'made in Czechoslovakia '. The original dauber is gone & only a remnant remains. There is some wear to the gold plating at the center where you would pick it up but not unattractive.
An unusual Czech bottle.
