Meiji Japanese Reticulated Bronze Cicada Insect BUG Artist Signed
All I can say is this is an amazing figure or movable sculpture. I have seen the crabs in sterling and bronze which this is directly related to. Completely reticulated....every part/joint moves on all but the back two legs and both sets of wings. The detail is very realistic and life like. This is also quite large at 6" long....the body is about 1 3/4" across in between the wings. The artist decorated the whole of this in realistic detail.....please see the photographs. It is heavy and solid. I think one of the back two of the legs was repaired. He is signed on a sterling band on the underside of the body/thorax as shown.
