This has been in my collection for a long time. It's a very whimsical fantasy of the Garden of Edan ( I think?). It is well executed and is being sold unframed. It is in perfect condition. The painting measures approximately 30" x 30", it is oil on canvas. This will be a great addition to any collection of American art. Moessel is a highly collected California artist, see bio below. About the artist;
A well listed painter, illustrator and print maker Julius Moessel was born in Furth, Germany in 1872, and was best known for his detailed Surrealistic paintings of animal & zoological subjects, portraits, birds and figural paintings. He relocated to Chicago, Illinois in 1932.
He often painted cover illustrations for The Saturday Evening Post and exhibited his work at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Corcoran Gallery Biennial, and the Pennsylvania Academy.
His work is in the permanent collection of the Chicago Union League Club. He died in 1960.
