This ring made me smile. I was mesmerized by it's brilliance. From a few inches above the case I found it in, it appeared to be a solid row of sparkle, only upon closer and closer inspection did I see it for what it is, two rows of cushiony, pillowy old cushion cut diamonds one above the other.
Set in 18 karat yellow gold are 14 old European cushion diamonds with a total stone weight of about .8 carats. The wonderful bright white and lively diamonds are set into 18 karat gold which is unmarked but has been tested to verify it's content. The stones are prong set and the sides of the ring do show a bit of smooth wear, likely from being worn next to or between two rings. It's not surprising, really, because this would be the perfect ring for stacking. It is currently a size 6 but is easily re-sizable. It weighs 2.2 grams.
This late 19th century ring would make a fantastic wedding or anniversary band and it certainly promises to play nicely with others!
