A little creative re-cycling is always encouraged. Here's an early and interesting example. Once a fabulous brooch or perhaps a stunning clasp to a few heavy strands of pearls, this diamond and sapphire cluster has been transformed into a smashing ring! The wow factor is completely unspoiled.
Approximately 1.4 carats of lively and bright old cut diamonds surround about a 1.2 carat oval faceted sapphire of bright and sparkling blue. The stones are set in silver. The top of the ring most likely dates to before 1860, it may have been closed backed when it was made. Sometime around 1900-1910, this top was re-mounted onto a custom built 18 karat gold crown and shank, it is marked with the French eagles head mark and a makers mark. It weighs 2.9 grams. It is currently a size 7.5 but could easily be sized up or down a bit.
This ring is one very green re-cycled masterpiece! It would make an unusual and stunning engagement or right hand ring. Wearable from Blue-Jeans to Ball-Gowns!
