Here is a manly ring, indeed! A large men's signet ring bearing a coat of arms engraved into the top. Sometimes called an intaglio or seal ring, this ring would have been worn by a man on his index finger and used to make his mark in sealing wax on important documents, thus ensuring their reading by only the intended viewer.
The ring was gorgeously hand crafted in 14 karat gold with a rosy hue, i has that velvety soft patina that only age can bring. The ring is a size 10.5 and weighs a hefty 13.6 grams. It has a small mark that I can't quite make out, the mark is on the outside of the band which makes me wonder if this ring might be Russian in origin? I purchased it in Paris. I like to think of these rings as having 'instant ancestry'!
