I was dazzled by this glamourous and colorful ring! With it's juicy cabochon rubies and rich contrasting emeralds, this is one highly flattering jewel.
Set in 18 karat gold and marked with the French owl mark on the back of the band, I'm not entirely certain what the provenance of this ring is. It's a style that's been copied in more contemporary times, but judging by the wear, marks and craftsmanship of this one I suspect it dates to pre-1950 at least. This is a ring that could use a little bit of love, the shank has a bit of a bend to it that I could ask my jeweler to straighten out upon request. Also, one of the rubies does have a little conical chip out of it, while you can see this in the photos, it's less noticeable on the hand as these photos are very much enlarged to show detail. I forgave it it's slight foibles because it's a ring with gorgeous lines, a big show and a lot to say. Handcrafted in 18 karat gold, I've acid tested it just to be sure, it's a ring that's known a lot of love, and I'm sure it's ready to know some more! It is a size 10.5 and could be re-sized up or down. A large ring with a big scale, it would look great on a woman or a man, it weighs 9.5 grams.
