In Edwardian times, Ladies dressed for dinner. Dinner wasn't just a meal, it was a daily event. Off with the poplin and on with the velvet. A lady of means had a jewelry box as large and impressive as the wardrobe in her armoire. Blue dresses required sapphires, diamonds were always on demand. This ring was happy to oblige.
Edwardian ring set with 8 old European cushion cut diamonds surrounding a brilliant cobalt blue natural sapphire. The ring is hand crafted in 18 karat gold with platinum mounts for the diamonds. The diamonds add up to about 1.4 carat total weight and the center sapphire measures 7.6 mm x 5.4 mm x 3.2 mm deep and weighs about 1 carat. The ring is a size 8 and it could be re-sized pretty easily. It weighs 2.7 grams. It is unmarked and has been acid tested to verify content, made around 1910, likely in England, which is where I purchased it.
This ring would make an absolutely perfect engagement ring. Or maybe you just want to wear it to dinner, like the Edwardians did!
