A symbol of most fervent love in ancient times, the Fire Opal is a rare and exquisite gem. They range in color and quality from yellow to deep orange to almost red and from opaque to translucent. This Fire Opal is of amazing size and stunning color and clarity. It is a deep, bright orange with just a hint of a helix cloud inside the stone. Truly it is a beguiling gem which simply cannot be overlooked!
This ring is Art Deco, made in about 1930. It is in excellent condition. It is not marked, but tests as platinum. The bows on the sides are set with rose cut diamonds. The stone measures approximately 16 X 10.2 X 7 mm which makes it about 4.75 carats. It is currently a size 7.5, it can be sized, but you would have to find a jeweler who uses a laser. The ring weighs 4.9 grams.
Please note that Opals are a sensitive stone, they love to be worn as the warmth and humidity of your hand will keep them from drying out. Avoid extreme heat or cold and chemicals and this opal will maintain it's brilliance for years to come.
