She was drinking pink champagne, watching the sun set from her private balcony. The evening was lush and tropical, the breeze humid and slow. The gauzy dress she wore moved slightly with that tropical wind, the colors matched the sunset, rich orange, deep pink and lavender dipping down to purple. The ring on her finger flashed a matching violet with every sip of her champagne. A perfection of color.
This is a ring well suited to a tropical sunset. The cut of the stone creates an extra depth of sparkle and flash, the rich gold of the high cocktail mounting frames this gem like a painting. This fantastic step cut gem quality amethyst measures approximately 10.9 carats and has a rich purple color and excellent clarity. The Retro style mounting tests as 14 karat gold and is marked as well. The ring is currently a size 6.75 but could be sized up or down, it weighs 7 grams. Made around 1955, I bought this one in England but it could be American or European, it's origin is unknown to me. It's a highly stylized beauty of a ring with a lot of appeal.
