To me a brooch like this one showcases all that is best in Antique jewelry. Wonderful craftsmanship, and a little slice of history all in one!
A woman with a fan sits on an Empire settee, her poise perfect, her profile divine. The detail is exquisite. Signed by L. Cariat. On the other side lies the story. In French it tells the tale of Paris department store La Gerbe d'Or (the Golden Sheaf) which celebrated it's 110th Anniversary with this lovely Art Nouveau brooch. The shop opened in 1797, this brooch was made in 1907.
This lovely brooch is silver, it is fully hallmarked, made in France in 1907. It is in excellent condition, and weighs 9 grams.
