This stunningly gorgeous Edwardian ring will go beautifully with everything you own, or will ever own. It will go particularly well with Dior's Zémire, Weitzman's 'Retro Rose' pumps, a glass of '95 Dom Rosé and a Bentley Continental Coupé (my suggestion would be a '57 in Brewster Green, understated but oh, so glamourous). Or maybe you just want to wear it to lunch with rhinestone flip flops and flirty little dress. See what I mean? Everything.
This spectacular ring was hand crafted with precise detail around 1910. The star of this show is an amazing 6.5 carat rich velvety blue natural sapphire. The color of this slightly oval faceted stone simply defies explanation, it reminds me a little bit of the perfect summer sky just at that moment after the sun has gone down and just before the stars start to wink on one by one. The stone measures 10.2 mm x 9.75 mm across and 8.4 mm deep and , it has been graded as a P2B with 70-80% saturation and 0-10% gray mask, and a clarity of VS2, it is an old European style cut with a open culet at the back. According to the GIA, there is no real way to determine where a stone like this was mined, but judging by the exquisite color and quality of this stone it likely comes from one of the mines in Burma or Kashmir. It is certainly a very important and exceedingly rare stone and is set into a ring of the utmost quality. The top is filigreed with a scalloped edge and scroll work leading to cathedral style shoulders. The ring is set with sixteen old European cut diamonds weighing approximately one carat total and six single cut diamonds weighing an additional .24 carats for a total diamond weight of 1.24 carats. The diamonds range in color and clarity from F-G and VS2-I1.
The ring is currently a size 6, but it could be carefully re-sized by a skilled jeweler. It is marked 'PLAT' inside the band and has also been tested to verify it's all-platinum content. It weighs 5.8 grams.
This ring has been appraised by an independent GIA master gemologist and comes with a full report. The full replacement value is $38,400.00. A link to a short video of this ring in natural sunlight is available upon request.
A ring with star quality.
