These fabulous cut steel earring were made in England during the mid 1800's, c.1840. Made to mimic diamonds when worn by candle light, each top has steel rivets, laboriously hand cut and polished and then mounted on a back brass plate, with 9k gold fittings and wires. The drops are made up of small beads, strung and woven together to form a tasseled sphere with larger steel beads at the ends.
These fabulous Victorian earrings are excellent condition, they drop a spectacular 3 inches from the ear, measure 5/8 of an inch across the tops and have tons of movement and sparkle. They should be kept in a dry location. They weigh 15.0 grams and test a 9k gold wires and fitting. A true joy to wear!!
