This impressive Scottish Saint Andrew's Cross brooch was made during the 1870s. It features a red and green agate cross accented by alternating cabochon cut citrine and amethyst, all set within a perfect circle of more alternating red and green agate. Flowing throughout and unifying the inner and outer motifs, every space in between the stones is beautifully hand-engraved.
In excellent condition this brooch weighs 29 grams and measures 2 1/4 inches across. Though it bears no marks it tests as silver. This impressive collector's grade brooch would make a wonderful addition to any collection of Scottish "pebble" or fine Victorian jewelry.
