This is such a pretty German post card. As you can see, it reads: The Last Rose of Summer in varying colors: red, blue & gold gilt. There is a lake scene to the left, with a beautiful red rose and leaves below this. Along the left side, there are two bluebirds flying. The musical notes are done in dark gold & the lyrics are done in red.
The lower left corner on the front reads: 19/4. The back has a one cent stamp, with a postal mark of Sep. 12, 1910, Keating, Oregon. The card is addressed to: Miss Jessie William, Haines, Oregon, R.D. No 1. The message reads: “Sept. 19, 1910, Dear Cousin Ireainea, I received your card I am well and hope you are the saim. I am still going to school. I will be in the fifth grade next week. My school will be out the 12 of November. I am glad to hear that grandma and the little children are well. I am coming to town today or tomorrow so good bye for now.” Please note some of the spellings are incorrect on the card.
The left side of the card reads: Printed in Germany.
The card is 3 ½” X 5 ½”.
The overall condition is quite good, with the following to note: on the front, there is light soiling on the upper left corner & along the top. On the lower left corner, there is soiling where the card was placed in a post card book. The back has some brown marks on the right edge only.
