First let me say this antique print on canvas framed picture is absolutely stunning in person; the colors have not faded. It's also in the original shadowbox style antique gold gesso frame, which has glass covering it. The inner gesso portion has a textured swirl look.
I would date this picture to the early 1900's, poss. up to 1920. A date is not visible, but I do believe there are initials in the lower right hand corner, in the white "swirl". The back appears to have the original paper, which has been torn in places and has tons of old tape. The original silky cord is attached to one side only; it's come apart from the other side & is too short to use. There is a wire hanger attached to what appears to be the original side hooks.
As you can see, there is a mother Spaniel caring for her six puppies. The mother & one puppy are wheat & creamy white with wheat color spots; the other five puppies are mostly creamy white & black, with some having a bit of wheat color. There's quite a bit of greenery as well, along with what appears to be the bottom portion of a wood deck, which is in back of them.
The overall condition is very good, especially when you consider it's over 100 years old. The inside is dusty, and there's one dust "ball" in the lower right side (see last pic). There are areas mainly along the top left edge inside, which show dust & "dots"; I don't believe the "dots" are on the picture; it appears to be on the glass. I can't be 100% sure, so please be aware of this. I didn't want to take this picture apart, so I will let the lucky new owner do so, so it can be properly cleaned. My guess is you'll be able to do it yourself, since what I've mentioned appears minor. There's gesso loss (see pic of one area) on all the edges, plus a few small areas here and there. It's actually in remarkable condition. I have shown one section of the lower inner border which has a small strip of antique gold gesso which is missing. The top inner edge also has the same small amount of gesso loss. The glass is in excellent condition; it does move a bit from side to side, but it doesn't affect the picture in the least.
The entire piece is approx. 19 ½" across, 15 ½" down & 1 ¾" deep. The actual canvas picture is approx. 13 ½"across & 9 ½" down; the measurements were taken from the glass top.
This antique print on canvas framed picture is truly an outstanding piece in every way possible. The lucky new owner will absolutely love it.
