Antique Celluloid Autograph Book w/Three Children at Beach-1899-Unusual Cover Scene

I love the look of this antique celluloid & velvet autograph book.

Although the patent date on the last page dates it to Sept. 19, 1893, the first autograph sentiment is dated 1899; the last is 1906.

As you can see, the front is quite unusual; it shows a young girl & boy carrying a beautiful little girl in a sling type carrier; they are barefoot on the sand at the beach. In the background, on the right side, you can see the front of a boat. Along the border is raised embossing, with dark antique gold highlights. The spine & back are done in mottled rust/burnt orange/cream velvet.

Some of the sentiments are: “As sure as comes your wedding day, a broom to you I’ll send, in sunshine use the brushy-part, in storm the other end”; “May your joys be as deep as the ocean waves, and your sorrows as light as its foam”.

The overall condition is quite good, with the following to note: the front cover scene has probably faded from age; there is light wear to the nap on the velvet; the spine has come loose on the inside front (loosened from the staples); the pages are together. The first and second pages have darkened from age, along with the last two pages.

The measurements are: 6 ¼” across & 4 3/8” tall.

This wonderful antique autograph book would look wonderful displayed with your other antiques.
