Antique ROSES Oil Painting on Black Satin w/Cardboard Back-Paris Apt. Chic

The painting is done on black satin, with a light cardboard back. This is the way I purchased it; no doubt it had a frame at one time.

The person who painted this was a very talented artist; the roses, buds & leaves are just gorgeous. There’s even a butterfly at the very top of the painting. The roses are done in shades of yellow, pink/lavender & creamy white. There is a lot of texture to this oil painting, which you really can't see in my photos.

The overall condition is good, with the following to note: the black satin has turned a brownish tone due to age. Because the lightweight cardboard is creased at both ends, along with other areas, the satin may look a bit wrinkled. There are no stains, holes or odors. There are a few options as far as use: use a hole puncher & punch two holes at the top and place satin ribbon through them and hang the painting as is. If you are lucky enough, you might find an antique oval frame which fits this. Placing glass over the painting would no doubt smooth out the few wrinkles. Some of the fabric on the back is loose, so it appears the painting may be easy to take off the cardboard, if desired. It also appears the back edges only were lightly glued to the cardboard, not the front, but I can’t say for sure. This piece is much nicer than my description sounds.

The approximate dimensions are: 16 ½” across & 13 ½” down.

Whatever you decide to do with this painting, you will no doubt love it; it is definitely Paris Apt. chic at its best.
