Victorian Celluloid Collar Box w/Ornate Raised Embossing w/Butterflies & Flowers-Incl. Collars & More

The top features three raised embossed daisies, leaves, a bow & a large winged butterfly. There is also raised embossing along the inner edges.

All four sides feature very ornate raised embossing; the top edges are done in a leaf design and the bottom portion is very ornate/intricate bees, buds on a stock & feathery leaves.

Inside, there are two collars, three pairs of metal cuff links & three collar buttons. The lining is done in a very pretty pink silk, which is in relatively good condition.

The overall condition of this collar box very good, with the following to note: the pink silk lining shows some minor shredding & is a bit dirty. There is a teensy dark spot on the shirred top. The celluloid has no crazing whatsoever. There is a teensy corner crack in the upper right hand side on top. There is a very small light yellow "dot", which is very difficult to see. It's located to the left of the top embossing. The bottom tips of the base have a teensy amount of celluloid missing from three of the four edges. There are two other areas up from the base, which have a pinprick size piece of celluloid missing, but this is very, very minor. The cardboard bottom appears to have water stains, but it doesn't affect the box at all. The box could use an overall light cleaning. Please note the slight yellowish color on the top embossing. I believe this embossed area originally had more color to it & has faded over time; I don't believe this area has discolored as I have seen other celluloid pieces with this.The front latch is difficult to close.

The dimensions are: 8 ¼" X 8 ¼" at the base & 5 3/8" tall.

This beautiful Victorian celluloid collar box displays very well & will enhance any collection.
