Victorian Art Nouveau Black Beaded Purse w/Figural Silver Tone Frame

The purse body is done in a pattern with black glass beads hand stitched to a black mesh background, with fringe at the bottom in varying lengths. Above the fringe is an approx. 1/8" wide mesh section which doesn't have any beads (it never did; it was made this way); the mesh in this section is a brown/black.

The black silk taffeta lining does not appear to be original. There is a repair on one side and a small frayed section on the other side. The lining is hand stitched to the frame & is loose in one area (an easy fix).

The overall condition is very good to excellent. The beaded fringe appears to be complete & I don't see any missing beads to the body of the purse. As noted above, the lining has a repair and a very small area where it's slightly shredded (see pic). One side by the hinge will need a few stitches to reattach the body to the frame (very minor).The one thing to note, which was difficult to capture in my photos, is one side of the beaded body extends out a bit more than the other; I believe it was sewn onto the frame incorrectly or one side seam needs to be taken in. Other than that, this purse is in fabulous condition, especially when you consider how old it is.

The dimensions are: Top of frame to purse bottom without fringe: 6"; Fringe length: 1" to 3"; 6" across the bottom; 6 ½" across the center of the body; 5" across from hinge to hinge.

This is a beautiful Victorian purse which is very useable; it will hold your basics.
