Unusual 30's-40's Delle Donne Raffia Straw Hat w/Organdy Poppies & Back Velvet Ring w/Poppies

This vintage delle Donne NY hat, which dates to the late 1930's-40's, is outstanding & unusual; I have never seen another hat with this design.

The hat is done in very fine & ornate Carmel color raffia with scalloped edges, which are mostly covered by six large orangey red organdy poppies. There are decorative areas which are done in straw.

There is a ½" wide black velvet rounded band around the inner brim, with an extension on the back which is ring shaped. This ring has two large poppies attached by a velvet ring. I'm not sure if this can be moved; I tried moving it but didn't want to force it since it didn't move.

The delle Donne New York label is sewn onto the Carmel color grosgrain ribbon inner edge. There is an attached black elastic piece, which retains some of its stretch.

I would consider this hat to be in mint condition, except for the fact the organdy poppy flowers are crushed; they will probably "perk up" once steamed. There are no stains odors.

The inner circumference is approx. 17" & approx. 10 ½" wide from scallop edge to scallop edge. Since this hat is meant to sit at the crown of your head, the circumference is meant to be smaller than a regular hat. The velvet ring extension with poppies is approx. 6" long & 7 ½" wide.

This is an outstanding vintage hat in every way.
