Framed 1906 Armour's Art Calendar Signed Illustration by Thomas Mitchell Peirce/Signed Oak Frame-1 of 2

As you can see, this illustration features a beautiful young woman wearing a feather hat; it is signed by the artist Thomas Mitchell Peirce. The months March & April are shown on the lower bottom & right side. Armour's Art Calendar 1906 is shown in the upper left corner. Please note there is glass covering the illustration.

The signed oak frame is stunning! As you can see in one of my photos, the frame has the appearance of a frame on a frame, and features a carved leaf on each corner. The back of the frame is signed: Malvern, Arkansas-3-Oak-A.B. Cook Company (the Y is missing, but the letters N & Y are shown on the top edge).

Some information on A.B. Cook (Arthur Cook); he was a Malvern Hot Spring County businessman, who purchased acreage in the 1920's for the purpose of harvesting the timber to manufacture hardwood flooring at his mill, Wisconsin-Arkansas Lumber. He died in 1934.

The frame measures 19 ¼" long, 13 ½" wide & approx. 1" deep, including the leaf extension. The leaves do extend out over the frame. The opening for the print is 15" long & 10 1/8" wide. There is cardboard covering the back opening and silver frame "points" which hold the illustration in place, which are newer but this is the way I purchased it. There is a wire for hanging.

The overall condition is excellent, with the following minor imperfections to note: paper crinkling above Armour's Art Calendar writing & along the top edge, as well as below the month of April. There is a crease below the date. There are a few dark "dots" on the front of the glass, which will no doubt come off (probably paint spots). Please note, there are two professionally punched holes along the center top edge of the illustration; this is original to the piece since it was part of a calendar. There is minor wear to the tip of the leaves, but this could be touched up easily. The overall piece is dusty. All in all, this framed illustration is in amazing condition for being over 100 years old.
