This book appears to have been rebound. It has green boards with gilt title and author on spine. It measures 7 2/8" x 4 6/8" as the 1st Ed. There are 490 Pages but no advertising or woodcuts in book. Page 451 is torn and still attached at spine. The pages have browned with age. This book is one of the classic tales of 19th century California. It had great influence in the migration and settling of Southern California. It also exposed the abuse to which Southern California Indian received. It is a 1st Ed Thus printing. The 1st printing was 1884 and this book was printed in 1885.
