COMMENTS: Victorian woven hair chain measuring almost 14 inches long and over 1/4 inch wide. The findings are gold-filled. The chain features a swivel hook to hang the pocket watch, a bow shaped T bar for the buttonhole and a piece in the center that most likely held a fob. Victorians often made jewelry pieces from human hair as personal mementos. This is a fine example since it shows two intricate patterns. It is completely intact and ready to add to your collection.
Queen Victoria popularized mourning jewelry the death of her beloved Prince Albert in 1861. During this period of forty years, the Queen was in mourning. She remained in full mourning for three years and dressed the entire court that way.
