Fabulous Antique Capo-di-Monte Dresser or Casket Box

I am pleased to present to you this fabulous dresser box, made in Italy at the end of the 19th Century.

The piece is Capo-di-Monte style and is marked with the Crown and N marking. It also has an artist initial of HHW.

It is a beautiful example of this type of porcelain. The entire box has raised putti figures. The two on the lid are holding horns and sitting on a cloud next to a lyre. The bottom part of the box shows the figures holding hands and dancing through the grass, while holding onto a rose garland. Quite a scene.

The box is hinged and the lid is trimmed with brass beaded mounts. It is oval in shape. When opened, the box shows a pretty painted rose on the bottom and under the lid.

The piece measures 5 1/2" in length and stands about 4 1/2" high. It is in wonderful condition with no chips, cracks or hairlines. The lid closes well.

This would look great in a bedroom on a dresser or go beautifully in a living room setting.
