Beautiful & Rare English Papier Mache Calling Card Case MOP Inlay

The case is definitely designed for a woman and has a lovely allover scalloped border. The designs are all floral in nature with the flowers being inlaid mother of pearl and the leaves all done in gold leaf. There is a small amount of red paint outlining and highlighting some of the flowers.

The case has a hinged lid which has an interior ivory border.

The piece measures 3 3/4" by 2 3/4". It will not hold today's standard business card but is still a marvelous vanity or display piece.

The condition is good with some minor crazing to the papier mache. The ivory trim on the interior of the lid has a 1/2" piece missing preventing the lid from snapping shut, however it stays closed securely, and the slight missing ivory trim is not visible from the exterior. Similar pieces on Ruby Lane have sold in excess of $650.00, but I am always willing to pass on a bargain when I can obtain one.
