A lovely example of the work done by this prolific English Staffordshire pottery I believe this plate was manufactured between 1922-1927. The lion figure above the crown on the rear of the plate indicates this. There are also the words Royal Doulton England found there. This beautiful 9" plate has a scalloped border trimmed in gold and an Oriental design taken from the Japanese Imari style. The typical Imari colors of blue and orange are also used. The design shows a handsome oriental vase in the center of the dish with flowers coming out of it. The border is also scattered with these same flowers. There is heavy enameling done especially the rich hue of the blue. This is truly a great piece to put in a china cabinet or hang on the wall.
Condition is excellent except for a minute flake on the back border.
