This stunning vase was manufactured by the Royal Bonn company in Germany at the very end of the 19th century. It has all the elements of the aesthetic movement in its design.
The wonderful blue bird is flying into a background of dazzling turquoise, upon which are hand painted beautiful roses in pinks and mauve. There is extensive gilding throughout the piece, which I believe is done in 22k gold. You can feel all the raised enamel work with your fingers, and know that a gifted artist did his best work.
The large squat shaped vase measures 6 3/4" in height and has a diameter of 4 1/2" at the base and 6" at the top. The mid section flares out to about 9".
The vase is in wonderful antique condition with the colors being very vibrant. There is some slight gold wear and minor crazing.
The bottom has the usual red Royal Bonn mark with 1755, used after 1895. It also has several numbers. Please see photos.
