This is an absolutely stunning pendant/brooch. It is made of hallmarked 14 karat yellow gold and contains biwa or freshwater pearls and aquamarine stones. It dates to the mid 20th century.
The pendant, which can also be worn as a pin or brooch is a bird lovers delight. There are two finely textured gold birds, each measuring almost 3/4", sitting in a nest made of irregularly shaped pearls. Coming out of the nest is a gold leaf and gold flower centered with a 4mm aquamarine stone. The top of the pendant/brooch has another gold flower with a 4mm aquamarine stone. The brooch is marked 14k on it's clasp, but proved a bit difficult to photograph because of it's location. The entire piece measures approximately 1" by 1".
The back of the piece has a pin with a safety closure. There is a loop on top to put the chain through.
The chain is also hallmarked 14K yellow gold and is done in a rope style. It measures 16" in length.
The pendant/brooch and chain have a combined weight of 14.5 grams. They are in fine vintage condition.
