Transferware Platter, Blue on White ~ Alfred Meakin for John Alden Gift Shop

This is a nice blue on white transfer-ware platter made by Alfred Meakin, Staffordshire, England. It features a Pilgrim's Thanksgiving scene (marked "Copyright 1972, John Alden Gift Shop") surrounded by various heraldic emblems of many of the early families. It measures 11 1/4" wide by 14" in length. On the back, the lengthy mark says "Olde English Staffordshire Ware, Jonroth England, JR, Made in Staffordshire, England by Alfred Meakin, Engraved by C. H. Whittingham, Designed by and Imported Exclusively for John Alden Gift Shop, Plymouth Mass., First Limited Edition." I can find no damage, but one of the Heraldic Shields on the front rim did not print clearly, although it can still be made out.

Great for your next Turkey Day! Still a nice display piece!

Enjoy each day!

Cheers!

James
